Protesters want answers from Canadian Natural Resources in the wake of 4 oil spills in Northeastern Alberta.

Earlier this month, the Alberta Energy Regulator told the company to stop steam injections into its oilsands sites.

Cold Lake First Nation’s Nancy Scanie says the company hasn’t been telling the community about the spill.

“They should be informing the Candian people of what goes on instead of hiding behind these great big buildings,” she adds, “we have to come to them, why don’t they come to us?”

Greenpeace Canada’s Mike Hudema says CNRL hasn’t been accountable.

“These are spills that the government and the company can’t stop,” he continues, “it’s already killed dozens of animals and birds in the area.”

He says, “we need answers.”

Members of the Beaver Lake Cree and Cold Lake First Nations say they aren’t getting enough info about the spills.

TheĀ  four leaks are at CNRL’s Primrose Lake site on the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range near the Saskatchewan border, which is affecting about 13 hectares.

Yesterday in Calgary, protesters also marched to AER’s office, calling for more transparency.
