Starting on July 1st, the province will be getting tougher on drunk driving.
Transportation minister Ric McIver says that if you’re caught with a blood alcohol level above point-oh-eight, your license will be taken away and your vehicle will be seized for three days on the first offence. After that, your vehicle will be taken for seven days.
He says that despite the changes, you are not convicted on the side of the road and do have the right to give a second breath sample.
If you have a graduated license and are caught, you will lose your license for a month and your car for a week.
