Public gets access to oil sands environmental data

Environmental data for the oil sands has become easier for the public to get their hands on.

Marking today’s Earth Day, the Federal Conservatives will launch a long-promised portal for it at Carleton University in Ottawa.

The oilsands monitoring system will allow the public to critically look at new research that measures the quality and quantity of the land. air, and water in the region.

It’s an attempt to get more of the public on-side with the country’s resource development practices.

It has been in the making for more than a year, but publishing it has taken a while because of internal politics and technical questions.
