RCMP seize drugs believed to be on the way to Fort McMurray

Lots of cocaine and marijuana that RCMP believe was on its way here and Edmonton were seized at traffic stops last week outside of Jasper.

On April 24th and 25th,  RCMP turned up over 2 kilos of cocaine and over 70 kilos of marijuana.

RCMP say that’s over 19,000 doses of cocaine and over 250,000 joints .

2 Fort McMurray men, 36 and 32 years old, are among those being charged after police found over half a kilogram of cocaine in their car.

They’ll be in court in Jasper June 13th facing the charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

2 more men from BC are facing that charge as well as a man from Edmonton.

Police use specially trained Roving Traffic Units (RTU) team members and police service dogs as some of the tools RCMP use to reduce illegal activity and reduce crime.
