RCMP will be out in full force this weekend

The RCMP is reminding drivers to play it safe on the road as another long weekend rounds the corner. Mounties say that since the May long weekend there have been 1,071 people injured in accidents across the province including 75 deaths.

“As we approach the coming long weekend, let us not add to the total number of deaths and injuries since our last long weekend of May 15 to 18. The Victoria Day holiday and weekend in Alberta saw a number of traffic collisions and fatalities on Alberta’s roads,” said Cpl. Hal Turnbull, RCMP ‘K’ Division in a press release.

Police want Albertans to stow away cell phones and electronic devices when behind the wheel, wear seatbelts, obey the posted speed limits and stay sober while driving.

On Saturday police across the country will be out in full force with enhanced check stops as part of National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.
