Real Canadian Superstore strike is officially over

Workers at Albertan Real Canadian Superstore and Liquorstore outlets are back at work today after a new contract was ratified yesterday.

It’s the end to a strike that started Sunday.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 401 says the vote was overwhelmingly in favour of the deal.

The tentative agreement was reached Monday between union negotiators and the grocery giant’s parent company, Loblaw.

The strike was initiated because of proposed cuts to hours and wages.

Managers were running the stores during the strike.
