Recruitment open for 2018 Alberta Winter Games volunteer board

Recruitment has begun for the volunteer board of directors for the 2018 Alberta Winter Games with applications being accepted until March 2nd.

There are 12 open directors’ positions and two co-chair positions, all of which require 10-20 hours of work a month from March of this year through to August 2018.

Once recruitment closes, Council’s Selection Committee will recommend the appointment of two Co-Chairs to Council. The Co-Chairs will then be responsible to work with the Selection Committee to recommend the appointment of 12 Directors for the Games.

The Board is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and timing of the Games within the framework of the Alberta Sport Connection guidelines, goals, and objectives.

Directors will be appointed for each of the 12 following areas of responsibility:

  • Athletes village and food services
  • Administration and finance
  • Culture, ceremonies, and protocol
  • Facilities
  • Friends of the games
  • Media and communications
  • Tourism and visitors’ experience
  • Safety and security
  • Information technology and communications
  • Sport
  • Transportation and cartage
  • Volunteer workforce
