Premier Alison Redford is looking for an explanation from the federal NDP leader over comments made about the oilsands. .
Over the weekend, Thomas Mulcair said that the oil industry is to blame for some struggles in the country’s manufacturing sector, because the cost of oil was artificially inflating the value of the Canadian dollar.
He said that meant that American buyers could no longer afford Canadian goods.
Redford says someone looking to lead the country one day needs to understand just how important the oilsands are to the entire country.
