Redford: National energy strategy needed

Fresh off her trip to Washington DC, premier Alison Redford is now calling for a united front on energy strategy in Canada.

Redford went to Toronto to address the Economic Club of Canada, saying the developing world is becoming hungrier for Canadian energy.

She says there needs to be less dependence on the U.S. market, especially after trouble getting the Keystone XL pipeline approved.

Redford says she wants to see open cross-country dialogue on issues like innovation and sustainability.

She says Canada can guarantee national prosperity for a long time to come if it can supply rapidly growing Asia with the energy it needs.
