Request for Proposals closing today for downtown arena

Today is the deadline for proponents to submit their designs for the new downtown arena.

Ted Zolotinuk, the director of Supply Chain Management for the city, says the original proponents that expressed interest – Integrated Team Solutions, Western Asset Management, Clearwater Consortium, and Forum Equity Partners – are all expected to respond by the 4:00 pm deadline.

Back in November, it was reported that the Forum Equity Partners group had withdrawn from the process, but Zolotinuk says they’re now back in the running.

He says a panel of experts will look at the submissions, and come up with a short-list.

“We have picked an evaluation team that will review each of the proposals, and that expert panel will use the guidelines set out in the RFP to look at the different stages of the project, and work on developing a recommendation document,” he said.

Zolotinuk says there’s no limit to the number of proposals that make it on that list.

“We want to pick the absolute most qualified, best solution. And so, that could even be all four of them. The evaluation team will decide on the criteria to short-list. And then that criteria will be used to determine who gets on it,” he said.

Once a short-list is developed, the city will reach out for feedback with public consultations.
