Fort McMurray is no longer at risk of ice jam-related flooding. The municipality has declared River Breakup.

Crews monitoring the situation reported at 1 p.m. that the rest of the ice in the Athabasca River had moved north of the entrance of the Clearwater River. Officials say that’s where it’s deteriorating.

The RMWB says people should stay away from river banks and shorelines because they’re still dangerous.

Emergency Management will continue to monitor any risks.
