RMWB looking for feedback on changes to bus service

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and Tok Transit says it’s changing up some city bus routes to offer better service.

It’s hosting a travelling engagement session on a bus today and tomorrow to see what people think of the different options and proposed plans.

Transportation Manager Tony O’Doherty says riders could see improved connections, schedules and even brand new route.

“One route in particular is the 1A and 1B. We’re going to split that up and take the back portion of the 1A and 1B off and create another route called the 1C,” he adds, “the purpose of this is to provide better connectability to transfer routes.”

He says the city’s even looking to service the new airport.

“we’re going to be expanding into the new terminal and we’re going to be adding four extra runs a day. Some of the late night service we’re going to be cancelling. Those hours we’re going to transfer to routes that are over maximized,” he said.

It’s also a possiblility the city will add nightly service on the industrial route serving Abasand and Beacon Hill, as well as create routes for the Parsons Creek development and the TaigaNova area.

Service could be expanded in areas like Westview Heights and parts of Eagle Ridge, and simplified for the routes going to dowtown, Wood Buffalo, Waterways, Eagle Ridge and Cartier Heights.
