RMWB to explore land sales in Fort Chip

Fort Chipewyan councillor David Blair says he hopes a municipal plan to buy vacant lots in the hamlet and sell them will help jump-start land purchases.
Council voted in favour of exploring the idea, where the municipality would sell the lots at cost to interested buyers who can’t buy land themselves because of the lack of a real estate market.
Blair says there are plenty of people who will hope to buy.
The proposal did face opposition from councillors Allan Vinni and Dave Kirschner, who say that it’s not the municipality’s place to broker real estate.
