Second plant at Husky's Sunrise project begins steam operations

Husky Energy has started steam operations at the second of its two processing plants at the Sunrise Energy Project.

A SAGD project, Sunrise is expected to reach its full capacity of 60,000 barrels per day towards the end of 2016.

The first plant began production in mid-March of this year the second plant should begin pumping bitumen later this year.

Husky is the project operator and it has a 50 per cent working interest in the project with BP, which operates the jointly-owned BP-Husky Toledo refinery.

Bitumen from Sunrise can be processed at the jointly owned facility.
