A small fire broke out at CNOOC’s Nexen Long Lake site earlier this afternoon.
The company confirmed that it did have a small fire at one of its units.
“Our emergency team responded quickly and contained and extinguished the fire, there was no threat to our personnel, the public, the environment, it was quite minor,” said Meghan Kelly, Spokesperson.
Kelly didn’t know what exactly caught fire, but according to a source the fire broke out at the sites OrCrude, which is part of the upgrader.
The fire began around 4:00 p.m. and was extinguished not long after.
