Snowplows are making some space for drivers on Fort McMurray streets. Crews started working in Abasand and Grayling Terrace this week. The service is new to Fort McMurray. The RMWB normally removes snow from streets when they become impassable.

“We want residents to know that the large piles of snow they may see on driveways and lawns this year is not indicative of the regular plowing program that will start next winter,” states Roads Manager Robert Billard. “What we’re plowing right now is several weeks’ buildup of snow. When we do regular plowing next year, the accumulations will be much smaller and easier to manage because of the frequency of the service.”

No parking signs will be placed on streets crews 48 before crews move in. Officials are reminding people to keep driveways clear of extension cords and Christmas decorations. A plowing schedule is available on the Municpality’s website.
