Southern Pacific set to open first oil sands project

Southern Pacific Resource Corp is getting ready to open its first oil sands facility.
The company says its 440 million dollar STP-McKay phase 1 project is almost ready to go; its central processing facility will be commissioned tomorrow.
The 12 thousand barrel per day SAG-D facility is 45 kilometres northwest of Fort McMurray and should start production by September.
The project could eventually be expanded to 18 thousand b-p-d.
