SRD says fire in national park to blame for smoke in region

Crews are contintuing to fight a wildfire in Wood Buffalo National Park.

The 44,000-hectare fire is about 185 kilometres northwest of the city. The smoky conditions being seen in the region are being caused by that fire.

There are also two wildfires burning in the Waterways district. SRD says both of those fires are considered to be under control. As of yesterday evening, the wildfire hazard in our region is considered to be high.
