Study finds two oilsands pollutants sitting higher than trigger levels

Environment critics aren’t happy with the government’s response to new data that shows two air pollutants are over their trigger levels near the oilsands.

NDP MLA Rachel Notley says the province should get moving as soon as possible on fixing the issue.

But Katrina Bluetchen from Alberta Environment says more information is needed to target the sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide before it can figure out exactly how to respond.

Notley says she’s worried the chemicals will get increasingly more dangerous the longer the government waits.
