Suncor, GE sign deals that aim at cutting GHG's and water use in oilsands

Suncor and General Electric teamed up and signed two deals worth up to $18-million and aimed at cutting emissions and water use in the oilsands.

The oilsands company says the aggreements involve other members of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance.

One agreement is for a water treatment pilot project that is expected to reduce water use, energy consumption and greenhouse gases. while at the same time lessening costs for in-situ operations.

A memorandum of understanding was also signed by six alliance members with the potential to spend $13-million on other joint projects.
