Suncor: monthly oil sands production is down, but yearly average is up

Suncor, oilsands project

Oil sands production at Suncor fell more than 14 percent in June but it’s yearly average went up.

It says last month it pumped out 293,000 barrels per day which is down from 343,000 last year.

The average year to date total has jumped about 3%from 307,000 bpd last year to 317,000.

On the 24th it said it was reducing production after Enbridge shut down a pipeline after it leaked 750 barrels of synthetic crude into a wetland area near Anzac.

Enbridge said it was flood-related, saying the heavy rains caused the ground to move.

But Suncor also said it was going to be able to meet its production target.
