Suncor’s second-quarter earnings went up 28 percent this year.

The company posted earnings of almost 1.3 billion dollars, compared to less than a billion a year ago.

It says the numbers jumped because of better production volumes, and better margins at refineries.

But it also says they would’ve been higher if not for lower prices.

Profits were down from 562 million to 333 million.

Oil sands production was almost 310 thousand barrels per day, up 27 percent, because of less maintenance and higher production at Firebag.
