A carnival that runs on vegetable oil, solar power and other renewable energy, is coming back to MacDonald Island Park.

For the fourth year in a row, Sustainival will run Labour Day weekend in Fort McMurray.

Organizers say new attractions, entertainment and technology demonstrations were added to the event. They’re also running the Green Beast Eco Challenge, which has contestants running through physical and mental competitions.

Sustainival is described as an experimental education platform, celebrating sustainability and clean technologies.

The green carnival drew more than 20,000 people last year. The carnival runs September 4 – 7.
