Syncrude Athletic Park splashpad to be named after Dr. K.P. Wong

A pair of extraordinary community members will be honoured with their names gracing local recreation facilities.

Council approved two naming recommendations made by the Community Identification Committee.

The late Dr. K.P. Wong will have the new splash pad at the Syncrude Athletic Park named after him.

Dr. Wong delivered an estimated 20,000 babies over forty years in Fort McMurray as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist.

He passed away on Jun. 4, 2014.

Meanwhile the Jerry Cooper Outdoor Rink at 105 Brett Drive will be renamed the Jerry Cooper Memorial rink after a request from his family.

Cooper was a longtime resident and active participant in youth hockey.
