A film mocking celebrity environmentalists who’ve made their way through the region, is looking to flip the script on Hollywood.
Director Tim Moen started the campaign for Tar Sands Messiah on Friday, and he’s already raised $9,000 to develop the film.
“The film will document Tim Moen’s mission, as an environmentalist from the heart of the oil sands, to turn L.A. from its evil polluting ways. The movie is an opportunity for Fort McMurray to tell its story its own way, highlight the hypocrisy and condescension of Hollywood, and expose the environmental plight at the hands of these ‘concerned celebrities,'” a news release says.
People in Fort McMurray got another look at the film’s trailer at the I Love Oil Sands event on Friday. A news release says it’s been received as the voice that Fort McMurray deserves, and has been waiting for.
The crowdfunding target is $63,000.
