The latest McMurrayite to put their name forward in the byelection race says he’s hoping to contribute to a bright future for the community.

Matt Youens moved to the city six years ago, and says that he’s so far very pleased with the work the current council has done. He says he’s hoping for the chance to collaborate with council.

Youens works as a communications advisor with Syncrude Canada, and is also an avid member of the blogosphere.

He says he would like to get voters involved in the democratic procress. He says that part of his campaign is to hold what he calls “table talks,” where he has small discussions with voters in a relaxed environment.

Youens is one of three locals to put their name forward for the byelection to fill two vacant seats on Wood Buffalo Council. The other two council hopefuls are Christine Burton, a local lawyer, and Tyran Ault, a communications advisor with Suncor.
