Tim Hortons is reviewing its in store advertising screens dubbed ‘Tims TV’after controversy over an Enbridge ad last month.

At the time the move was to appease environmentalists pleading with the chain to pull the ads from its stores in Western Canada, they said the coffee company was “shilling” for the pipeline builder.

Quickly after pulling the ad politicians like MP David Yurdiga and MLA Brian Jean took to twitter voicing their displeasure with the move. Jean even called for a boycott.

Tim Hortons is now reviewing the program, “we’re now taking a look at the whole Tims TV program and what makes sense for the brand,” said Daniel Schwartz CEO of Tim Hortons’ parent company Restaurant Brands to The Canadian Press. “As with many things in the restaurant, we explore what’s best from time to time.”

“I’m mixed on this one, part of me feels a little bit vindicated I think that it’s great at the end of the day I guess that NGO that was trying to petition to pull the Enbridge ad you don’t really know right away when something happens what the ripple effect is,” said Robbie Picard of ‘I love Oilsands’ on the Cubb Carson Experience on Rock 97.9. “I think we sent a very strong message to Tim Hortons but we did not do any damage to local businesses here.

Picard helped organize a local protest where Enbridge supporters covered their Tim Hortons cup with an ‘I love Oilsands’ sticker.
