Tour of proposed pipeline by female delegates

Today, a previous Nobel Peace Prize winner, is taking a trip with some important women to show them the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline route.

Jody Williams will start the week-long trip here in Fort McMurray to the B-C coast.

She is trying to get a female perspective on energy and pipeline development.

The first day of the tour which is put on by the Nobel Women’s Initiative includes a tour of Suncor’s oil sands, and a meeting with Mayor Melissa Blake.

Fort McMurray welcomes Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah Harmer, Kenyan environmentalist Ikal Angelei, corporate executive Chris Page and climate scientist Marianne Douglas from the University of Alberta, who are all here to take part in the tour with Williams.

Williams, shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
