TransCanada sees boost in first quarter numbers

TransCanada had a good first quarter all across the board.

The pipeline and power company out of Calgary’s revenue was 2.25 billion dollars, up from 1.9 billion in last year’s first quarter.

And it’s net income was 446 million dollars, up from 352 million in the first quarter of last year.

It met the expectation of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, who on average called for revenues of 2.1 billion dollars.

It’s still waiting for U.S approval on its proposed 7-billion dollar Keystone X.L pipeline that would take bitumen from Hardisty Alberta to the largest refining hub on the U.S Gulf Coast.
