TransCanada submits new Keystone route

TransCanada says it has submitted a proposal for a new route for the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.

The company says the new route will avoid the environmentally sensitive Sandhills region of Nebraska.

That area was the reason why President Barack Obama initially blocked the pipeline.

TransCanada will need approval from the U.S. state department because the seven-billion dollar pipeline crosses the U.S.-Canada border.
