TV ads by the industry are doing the job in swaying public opinion about the oil sands.

Postmedia reports that industry polls have shown that commercials in Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa are getting more Conservative and Liberal Party supporters on board with the industry; though they’re not convincing New Democrats.

More than 70 percent of people found the ads believable; and positive opinions of the industry outweighed negative ones by a 31 percent to 22 percent margin.

That’s the first time since polling started in 2010 that that’s been the case.

The ads highlight efforts to reduce water consumption and cooperation with First Nations; the NDP calls them propaganda.
