U.S. Senator wants Nexen deal blocked

The bid by a Chinese company to buy Nexen is running into some opposition south of the border.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York is urging the Treasury Secretary to withhold support for CNOOC’s 15.1 billion dollar bid for the company.

Schumer says the U.S. should use the deal as leverage to force China to allow as much foreign investment as Canada and the U.S. do.
