Unofficial turnout numbers show increase

The preliminary turnout numbers from Elections Alberta show the highest voter turnout in Alberta since 1993, as well as higher turnout in the Fort McMurray area.

The final numbers won’t be released until Elections Alberta calculates how many new voters were added to the rolls on election day.

But for now, province-wide turnout looks to be around 57 percent.

Fort McMurray–Wood Buffalo saw an increase from less than 20% in 2008 to 37% turnout this time.

The new Fort McMurray–Conklin riding had 40% preliminary turnout.
