UPDATE: Arrest made in 3-vehicle collision that shut Highway 63 down

A male has been arrested following the three vehicle collision that shut Highway 63 down yesterday.

It happened just before 6 o’clock, 44 kilometers north of Fort McMurray.

It involved a pick-up truck that lost control going southbound, crossing the center line and hitting a tanker before colliding with a bus.

RCMP made the arrest after finding out that the involved pickup was driving erratically and was actually stolen just minutes before the collision occurred.

Only minor injuries were reported, and the arrested male has been released from custody.

The investigation is on-going, and formal charges have not been laid.

It is believed that alcohol is a contributing factor.
