Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith was in Fort McMurray yesterday for a campaign stop.
Smith announced that should the Wildrose be elected as the next government, they would balance the budget, put legislation in place to prevent running a deficit, and have a surplus for the 2015 fiscal year.
For a surplus, they say that the money would be dispersed as follows:
– 50% would be put toward the Heritage Savings Fund
– 10% would go toward infrastructure
– 20% would be dispersed among Albertans, in the Alberta Energy Dividend
– 20% would be spent after public consultation
The Alberta Energy Dividend would give $300 to each Albertan — every man, woman, and child receive money.
Incumbent Wildrose MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo Guy Boutilier says that the party would also look to speed up the twinning of highway 63. They also say that they are listening to seniors on the issue of the long-term care facility..
