Oilsands already fund environmental monitoring systems: CAPP president

The Harper government might be OK with the idea of the oilsands companies paying for their new federal monitoring system, but the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says that they were never consulted on the matter.

CAPP president Dave Collyer says that it’s premature to say that the industry will foot the bill for the $50 million plan.

Collyer says that the companies already pay for a lot of the environmental monitoring that’s already in place, and there are other parties that impact the Athabasca region as well.
