Attempted armed robbery in Thickwood

RCMP are looking for a suspect after a failed armed robbery of the Scotiabank branch in Thickwood.

The full RCMP press release follows:

On July 28, 2011 at approximately 11:30 AM, the Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a call of an attempted armed robbery at the Thickwood Scotiabank located on Signal Road.

When RCMP arrived on scene they were notified that the a male entered the bank and approached a teller where he indicated to the teller that he had a weapon. The male demanded an amount of money and at some point exited the bank empty handed. No one was injured during this incident.

The weapon, the amount of cash, and how it was requested by the suspect will not released as this is pertinent to the investigation. Releasing this information could compromise the investigation.

Please be advised the suspect description is updated as follows:
• Black male
• 5′ 6’’ – 5′ 7’’ tall
• Husky build
• Wearing a long sleeve grey shirt with horizontal white stripes and a black wide-brimmed baseball cap with the Newyork Yankees logo in white
• Approximate age: 30
• clean shaven
• short black hair
