Victim of industrial incident identified

The man who died after being struck in the chest with a piece of equipment at Suncor’s Firebag site has been identified.

Former Nova Scotia resident, 56-year-old George McQuarrie died of his injuries on Monday morning. He was a pipefitter by trade, according to the Cape Breton Post.

He had lived in the Cape Breton communities of Sydney and New Waterford. An investigation into the incident is underway by Occupational Health and Safety.
