Oil Barons acquire goalie, finalize Russia roster

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons’ goalie situation has been resolved.

The MOB has acquired overage netminder Brody Hoffman from the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan league for cash and future considerations.

Hoffman went 13-24-2 for Nipawin last year with an .888 save percentage and 4.01 goals against average.

Head Coach Gord Thibodeau says the stats don’t tell the whole story.

“They had a team that struggled, they finished in last place,” he noted.

“Prior to playing in Nipawin, he played in Notre Dame and won a midget championship, so he does have some pedigree behind him.”

The Barons also finalized the 25 man roster they’ll take to Russia:
