Friends hope the public will help with surgery costs

Friends and family have stepped up to the plate to raise funds for McMurrayite Shane Wambolt, whose family is struggling to make payments after he underwent a life saving, out of country surgery last November.

Wambolt was diagnosed with a pineal cyst, which led to tremors, headaches and seizures, and eventually rendered him incapable of working. Unable to find a Canadian doctor who could remove the cyst, Wambolt underwent surgery in the United States at a cost of $250,000. The family is now struggling to pay the $5,000 monthly loan payments and his parents risk losing their home.

In an effort to assist Shane Wambolt, his wife Lisa and son Cohen, friends have set up a support fund. This is an opportunity to help out one of our own and show the compassion of our region.

Support can be shown by donating to:

Or, you can contact the Government of Alberta and petitioning for the reimbursement of this surgery.
