ALERT team seizes cocaine and marihuana from north Edmonton home

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Edmonton) concluded a drug trafficking investigation with a search warrant on a north Edmonton home and the arrest of one man.

On Sunday, August 21, as part of an ongoing investigation, CFSEU-Edmonton conducted a search warrant at a home on 166 Avenue and 88 Street, seizing eight kilograms of suspected cocaine, over five pounds of processed marihuana, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated value of the seized drugs is more than $380,000. Through civil forfeiture legislation, officers also seized a vehicle valued at $10,000.

“This group is well known by organized crime investigators, and they are known to have links with other organized crime groups in western Canada,” says Inspector Kevin Galvin. “The people connected to this investigation are in the upper echelons of the hierarchy and the results of this file will make a significant impact on the group and its activities.”

Hamid Reza AKBARPOUR, 24, of Edmonton, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
