RMWB seeks public feedback on Municipal Development Plan

Citizens are encouraged to review and comment on the draft Municipal Development Plan (MDP), the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.

Earlier this year, the Municipality asked residents for their Big Ideas about how we should live, work, move, play and grow in this region.

After several months of intensive process, the Municipality has incorporated citizens’ Big Ideas into the draft MDP.

“We’ve had over 13,000 interactions with Wood Buffalo residents on the web, in our offices and at events in the community,” said MDP Project Manager Amanda Owens. “We’ve been busy incorporating citizens’ feedback into the draft MDP.”

“This document is our road map for growth over the next two decades. We need residents’ feedback once again to help shape the final plan.”

The draft MDP will be available online for the community’s viewing and feedback from August 23 – September 9. Residents are welcome to view a hard-copy of the MDP at all rural and urban Municipal buildings including the new open-concept building at 9717 Franklin Avenue weekdays between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. A copy will also be available for viewing at the Fort McMurray Public Library. In the spirit of sustainability, hard copies will not otherwise be distributed.

MDP representatives will be at MacDonald Island on August 27 and September 3 to answer your questions. Presentations to the public will be made at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on each day in the Borealis boardroom. Community engagements will also be held in rural areas from August 23 – September 9. The final MDP will be brought to Council this fall.
