Changes to Mainline and Downtown Shuttle routes

Effective Monday, September 19th, the Mainline and Downtown Shuttle routes will temporarily cease to be combined, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.

Currently the Mainline bus completes a loop in Timberlea and Thickwood and then turns into the Downtown Shuttle so passengers can go south on Franklin Avenue or to MacDonald Island without having to transfer. As a temporary measure, the 1A and 1B Mainline bus routes will now only travel between Timberlea, Thickwood and the Mainline station. Two extra buses will move riders along the Downtown Shuttle portion.

“This move will help our drivers stick to the schedule and provide reliable service to our riders.” Said Carolyn Wozniak, Supervisor of Transit Services.

Due to the change, some riders may require an extra transfer. There will not be an extra charge for the transfer, and drivers have been instructed to accommodate passengers with up to two transfers at a time.

The temporary measure is expected to last through October to accommodate downtown detours and construction.
