Have you recently got into your car and noticed a letter from the RCMP that wasn’t inside you car before? That’s because members of the Wood Buffalo RCMP found you car unlocked.
Members have been going around the Timberlea / Thickwood areas of town checking vehicle doors between the hours of 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. If your doors are unlocked, you are the recipient of a letter from the RCMP explaining how leaving your doors unlocked leaves you wide open to have items removed from your vehicle, or have your vehicle stolen and demolished.
A few of the tips are:
• Lock all doors and ensure all windows are up all the way
• Remove all valuables
• Park in well lit areas
• Purchase a theft deterrent system
• NEVER leave financial or personal documents in your vehicle
