Wood Buffalo RCMP are currently investigating an assault that occurred on Franklin Avenue, in front of Diggers Bar, shortly after 2:00 am on September 23, 2011. Police were called to a large fight outside of the bar involving approximately 40 people, and located an injured person laying on the ground. The victim, a 21 year male, had been assaulted, and also sustained several knife wounds. The victim was taken to hospital via ambulance and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Two suspects were arrested on scene, both 28 year old males from the Fort McMurray area. The investigation continues.
