New oilsands contracts total almost $2b

Two companies have been awarded new oilsands construction contracts.

Jacobs Engineering Group announced today that it’s received contracts from seven oil sands clients to support steam-assisted gravity drainage and bitumen upgrading projects.

Jacobs says the value of the contracts is around 1.4 billion dollars, but won’t say who the clients are.

Flint Energy Services has also won a 430-million dollar contract to build a SAG-D project in the Wood Buffalo region.

The company will be responsible for building two major silos within the plant facility.

That project will start in the first quarter of next year and last until mid-2014 – the company estimates that the project will eventually employ more than fifteen hundred people.
