Traffic and pedestrian safety a concern in Riverbend Point development

When Wood Buffalo Council was discussing the new Riverbend Point community, one issue that was brought up was traffic, and pedestrian safety.

Councillor Phil Meagher says that he’s most concerned with what will happen on Abasand Drive, particularly when winter arrives. He pointed out that with the current plans, the sidewalk down the hill is unprotected from the vehicle traffic, which can be dangerous will how slippery the road gets in winter.

Riverbend Point would have access routes from both Abasand and Beacon Hill, and would also house about 10,000 people once it’s complete.
