Imperial Oil gets OK to haul through Montana

Imperial Oil has finally gotten approval to get equipment to its Kearl project north of Fort McMurray.

The state of Montana has given the company 300 permits to move modules built in South Korea on its highways up to Alberta.

The company has had to build Kearl out of sequence because of all the transportation delays.

It’s faced protests from environmentalists and other groups opposed to using scenic highways to transport the industrial equipment.

When it’s finished, the ten billion dollar Kearl project is designed to produce 110 thousand barrels of oil per day.
