RCMP investigate theft of drugs

Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a report of theft from a secure EMS bay at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray. It was noticed at 9:15 am on, November 9, 2011 that the lock from a supply cabinet was missing. Upon further inspection of the cabinet it was noted that several medications had been removed. Varying amounts of the following drugs have been reported as stolen:
 
• Morphine,
• Fentanyl,     
• Ativan,      
• Ketamine
 
Alberta Health Services warn that these medications should not be taken, or administered, without the direction of a qualified medical professional. Investigations by police as well as Alberta Health Services are continuing.
