Syncrude operator finds fossil

A heavy equipment operator at Syncrude has found a nearly complete dinosaur fossil.

The company says the employee discovered a plesiosaur, a swimming species of dinosaur, last Monday while digging.

The find is currently being examined by the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology which is hoping to remove it by the end of the week.

It’s the 10th fossil found at Syncrude and the first since a 110-million year old Ichthyosaur was found in 2000.
